Criminal Defense

JDGLAW provides representation for clients facing criminal investigation, arrest, indictment and prosecution, with a particular emphasis on pre- and post-trial motion practice, appellate advocacy, witness preparation, and sentencing memoranda. The Firm also represents clients who are targets of subpoenas to testify as third parties in prosecutions, or who are themselves subjects of investigations and enforcement actions by federal, state, and local agencies (including the SEC, State Attorneys General office, and the EEOC).

While many cases resolve themselves pre-trial, in those matters where trial is necessary, the Firm, in close partnership with other skilled criminal trial practitioners, is fully prepared to vigorously defend clients. In close coordination with the client (and mindful of a client’s budget), JDGLAW secures the best possible experts and consultants to achieve optimal results. Clients who find themselves convicted of charges, or who are considering a plea agreement, can rest assured that JDGLAW will forcefully protect their rights and interests when confronting difficult sentencing, penalty, and asset forfeiture issues.

Moreover, Mr. Glatter has expertise in navigating the complexities posed when a client finds themselves embroiled in parallel criminal and civil proceedings, such as a civil enforcement action, private lawsuit, or internal investigation. In these scenarios Josh carefully plans and executes upon a strategy to protect a defendant’s Constitutional rights, while maintaining flexibility to adapt to often rapidly changing circumstances. Josh also has deep experience in prosecuting statutory civil claims arising under criminal statutes against private defendants, including the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Alien Tort Claims Act, RICO, and federal securities laws. That unique experience enables him to develop a holistic view of a given case, evaluate an adversary’s likely plan, and devise and execute a multi-pronged strategy.

Above all else, Josh cares deeply about his clients and never regards them as merely one other “case file”.  He exercises his best efforts to keep their lives and those of their families intact, and fights to keep their lives from being devastated by governmental overreach.
